Week 10 has not been good to me!

Whew!
It's been a rough week.
I think I've been sick to my stomach almost every night this week. Not so fun!
I am really trying to enjoy being pregnant but its hard when I feel sick so much. I just keep telling myself that it won't be like this for long and know that I have so much to look forward too.

So tomorrow will start week 11!! I'll start taking and posting pics of my belly - I don't think I am showing yet but I had a co-worker who knows tell me that I was yesterday. I've also caught a few people checking out my mid section (they probably think my beer belly has gotten out of hand!). I'll let you all decide for yourselves tomorrow!

Happy Halloween (I'm hoping to get through the evening puke free- then It'll be a Happy Halloween for me too!)

Stay tuned!

10 Weeks!

10 weeks today!

I can't believe I am almost through the first trimester - that went really fast!

I'm feeling just about the same - just when I think I am over morning sickness, it strikes again. I was completely surprised yesterday when the wonderful breakfast Andrew made for me decided not to stick around! :( Still need to have those 8pm naps as well. No worries, I am relaxing and taking good care of myself and Andy is making sure I get enough of what I need. I think he'd hook me up to IV full of milk if he could. He wants to make sure the baby has a strong throwing arm! LOL

I love this website that gives me great information about whats going on each week - I always read it at the beginning of a new week and pass the link on to Andy. I thought I'd share it with the rest of you too.

Finally....A Doctor!!

Andy and I went to my first doctor's appointment and I have to say - what a relief to see a doctor finally. It was good to have all of our questions answered and now it really feels real.

My bloodwork and Ultrasound all look fine - the only thing with my blood is that I not immune to rubella - Darn! I'll have to be immunized after I give birth.

All is well and I won't be seeing the doctor again for 3 weeks.

:)

Monday...Monday....

Hi All -

Everything is status quo here in NJ - just wanted to stop in and say hello so you don't worry about me.

Thanks so much for all of your tips about brushing my teeth - I am going to try each one and hopefully find something that works for me.

The nausea has gotten much better - knock on wood! Andy bought me some lemon drops because he read that they could help and they are really doing the trick! YAY!!

Tomorrow is my first doctor appointment - so I'll have more to write about then.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Thursday Thoughts....

My mom told me that when she was pregnant she had to be careful brushing her teeth because it would make her gag - well brushing my teeth does not only make me gag but causes me to loose whatever might be in my stomach at the time. Which really causes a dilemma - Do I brush my teeth and then puke - which will make me want to brush my teeth again? Or do I boycott brushing my teeth for the next several weeks and risk cavities, bad breath and more? These are the thoughts that are clouding my mind this Thursday morning! Anyone have any ideas???

PS: Egg Salad is not a friend of mine!

Ultrasound Photos

Close up - Can you make out the head?

This picture is not magnified to give you an idea of the size!!
This is a photo that shows a graph of the heartbeat!

I AM pregnant!

Andrew and I had our first ultrasound this morning first thing!

I was a little nervous going in but I am not sure why - when we got into the room I found out that I would not have the traditional type of ultrasound that I've seen on TV. I am not going to give too much information but it was not with the cold cream on my abdomen!

I was really nervous knowing that the ultrasound would be preformed differently than expected but Andy always knows how to calm me down.

So once we got past that issue and could actually see images on the screen - it was VERY cool. WE could see the little heart beating and learned the the heartbeat was 158 beats per minute - no wonder they don't want you to have caffeine!!! Andy swears he saw two hearts beating but I think the lady would have told us. She took a ton of measurements and pictures and didn't really say too much. I was expecting that. My friend Kristen told me she was frustrated when she had her first ultrasound because the person performing the test didn't say if everything looked okay or not. So I knew this was going to happen - will just have to wait until next Tuesday when I see my doctor.

The lady doing the test kept saying there is the head, body, spine but I couldn't make out a thing. I'll just take her word for it. :)

I have several pictures and I have been trying all morning to scan them so I can post them here for you all to see but they are just not coming out clear so that part will have to wait until I get home.

A lot of you have been asking about it and since I am at work I can't really go into details so hopefully you'll get all the information you want ( and maybe some you don't) here.

I almost forgot one important detail - My due date is May 22, 2009!!!!

Stay tuned for pictures!!!

Take all of my blood while you are at it.......

WHEW!!!

I had my blood work first thing this morning. I have to tell you I was really nervous about this appointment. I just don't do well with blood. The lady was super nice and about 8 months pregnant which put my mind at ease a little bit. But then she just kept pulling out vial after vial - she said we are taking a lot of blood from you today and I almost fainted! I counted 8 vials total. I thought for sure it was going to take all morning to get that much blood to trickle from my tiny vain. The lady just kept talking to me and I didn't look down once and in just a few short minutes she had taken all of my blood. I was so relieved that it went so quickly and wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! One more thing to check off the list.

Now I better go get some toast and OJ before I faint! :)

Stayed tuned tomorrow for the BIG ultrasound - I can't wait!!!!!!

Finally....

Our parents have been told!!!

Its been so hard not telling them but we decided to wait until I was 8 weeks. Not for any particular reason - just being cautious. It took us soooo long to get here we just wanted to play it safe. I am so relieved now that they all know. We are still going to wait until 13 weeks to tell our friends and coworkers but I am so glad we've told our family. Here's a recap of their reactions:

Andy's Mom and Dad were over helping us close the pool when Andy mentioned he had some good news to share - he told them and of course they were very happy and excited. Andy's mom immediately said she was buying the crib. She's been waiting a long time to be a grandma!

I am not able to tell my parents face to face so I called my mom the night of her birthday and told her I had a surprise for her and that she was going to be a grandma. She did not say anything for a while - I had to say "MOM? HELLO?" but I realize she was just choked up, excited and happy all in one breath. My step dad was very happy and excited for us as well.

I tried to call my dad immediately after, I don't want anyone feeling bad that I told someone else before them but its hard when they are all in different locations and time zones. My dad and step mom were not home so the rest of the news breaking would have to wait until Saturday. About mid morning my step mom called and she asked if everything was OK - I said yes, why? and she said are you pregnant? I said yes and she said she just knew it. She was very excited and happy and gave the phone to my dad - I told him I was sick and he asked why and I said probably because I am eight weeks pregnant. He was also very excited.

Of course everyone wanted to know about ultrasounds and tests so I'll just recap all of the information here:
Blood work - Monday am 10/13
Ultrasound - Tuesday am 10/14
First DR - Tuesday pm 10/21

I'll be sure to keep you all updated and will be keeping up my blog too.

Glad to FINALLY have some readers - I love you all!!

Official Morning Sickness

UGH!

This morning I officially "lost my cookies"! I was hoping to be one of the lucky women out there who don't experience any form of morning sickness but I guess that isn't going to be me. Unless this morning was some kind of fluke. Actually, I am kind of relieved! It's so weird, you pee on a stick, its positive then you have to not tell anyone and don't see your doctor for weeks. The getting sick thing was kind of like a validation in some sick way - no pun intended. I am dying to tell my mom!!! I want to know what she went through so I can home some grounds for comparison. I am telling her on Friday - her birthday - but it can't come soon enough!!!

H-E-L-L-O Nausea!

Well look who has decided to join the party! It's not terrible...well in the mornings and at night it is TERRIBLE. I seem to feel pretty normal at about 2pm, guess thats when I can count on being the most productive. It is also the best time to approach me about something! I haven't actually puked yet, but have gagged on several occasions. There doesn't seem to be a particular culprit, although the thought of peppers and sometimes chicken really grosses me out.

Important Dates:
10/12 Bloodwork
10/13 Ultrasound (YAY!)
10/21 First Dr. Appointment (finally, I have lots of questions!!!)
